3 Steps to Maintain a Knife:
Cut-Carefully cut away from the body
Clean-Clean the blade by removing dirt, debris, box tape, etc with mild soap, water and soft cloth.
Care- Promptly dry the entire knife with a clean and dry cloth. Prior to storage a very light coat of lubricating oil may be placed on the blade.
Storage tips: When storing the blade for several days without use, store in a soft dry cloth outside the leather/kydex sheath. Moisture can get trapped inside the sheath causing corrosion on the blade. If light corrosion develops on the blade a very fine scotchbrite like material can be used when cleaning to remove the corrosion. Always be mindful of the Showalter Sharp cutting edge.
